澳大利亚 RAM 与 SSD 价格随库存收紧上涨
据 CRN Australia 与 ChannelNews Australia 转述,澳大利亚内存与固态硬盘价格明显上涨:三星 4TB SSD 从约 A$500 升至 A$1,149,16GB 内存条从约 A$60 涨至 A$200–A$300,DDR4-3600 2x8GB 套件较 2024 年 9 月上涨约 150%。

The memory shortage has reached Australian shelves, and the numbers are blunt. CRN Australia reports a Samsung 4TB SSD that sold for close to A$500 now retailing at A$1,149, and 16GB RAM modules moving from about A$60 to between A$200 and A$300. For developers and the teams who buy their machines, the practical problem is not only the price. It is that a quote no longer stays valid long enough to get approved.
Australia imports essentially all of this hardware, so it feels global component shortages with little cushion. The local channel, meaning the distributors and resellers who supply businesses, is where the strain shows first.
What the price moves look like
CRN reports a DDR4-3600 kit of two 8GB modules rising 150%, from about A$100 in September 2024 to around A$250.
The forecasts point the same way. ChannelNews Australia reported on September 17, 2026 that Gartner expects combined DRAM and SSD prices to rise as much as 130% by the end of 2026. Smartphone memory alone jumped more than 80% quarter on quarter in the second quarter.

Procurement is breaking before the budget does
The less obvious damage is to how buying works at all.
CRN reports HPE cutting the validity of a quote from 30 days to 14. One reseller, Champions of Change, saw its own quote turnaround stretch from two or three days to one or two weeks. Standard lead times across the supply chain have gone from one or two weeks to one or two months.
Put those together and the arithmetic stops working. A quote that expires in 14 days, from a supplier that takes up to two weeks to produce it, leaves no room for an approval process.
Vendors have also withdrawn the usual commercial cushions. CRN reports Cisco and HPE suspending promotions and allowing price adjustments on deals already quoted.
Jason Puschmann, founder of the Queensland reseller Computer Alliance, compared it to the pandemic supply crunch. "I'd probably say it's worse," he said.
Robbie Upcroft, country manager for Tech Data in Australia and New Zealand, described the demand distortion as "squeezing three months of activity into 12 months of run rate."
What it does to retail
ChannelNews lists JB Hi-Fi, The Good Guys, Harvey Norman, Officeworks and Amazon among the retailers affected, with Black Friday the pressure point.
The market-level effect is a smaller, pricier market. IDC expects PC shipments to fall 11.3% in 2026 while PC revenue still rises 1.6%, because average selling prices are 17% higher. Gartner puts smartphone prices about 13% above 2025.
Entry-level products are being withdrawn rather than repriced. As ChannelNews puts it, manufacturers "have consequently been cutting orders for entry-level models because some products simply cannot be sold profitably at their previous price points."
What this means for developers
Shorten the gap between quote and purchase order. A 14-day quote window is now a real constraint on your workflow, not a formality. If your company requires two approvals for hardware spend, find out today how long that takes, because it may be longer than the price is guaranteed.
Buy the memory and storage now, separately if you must. Machine refreshes are often planned a year out. The components being rationed are exactly the ones you can buy ahead and fit later, and a 4TB drive at A$500 is not coming back soon.
Reconsider the local build versus cloud line. Many Australian teams run their own build machines because egress and latency make it sensible. That calculation shifts when a RAM upgrade costs three to five times what it did, and cloud providers are absorbing their own memory costs across a much larger fleet.
Check what your entry-level test devices will cost to replace. The products disappearing are the cheap ones, which are usually the ones in a test lab. That is the same squeeze reported in India, where budget phone shipments fell 45%.
None of this is an Australian problem in origin. It is the global DRAM and NAND squeeze arriving at the end of a long import chain, which is why the local numbers look worse than the headline percentages.
