According to Yule Capital, ByteDance's Huoshan Engine has recently invited multiple copyright holders to participate in the internal testing of its "AI Copyright Management Platform." The platform allows brand owners, short drama producers, and others to use series models such as Seedance and Seedream to commercially utilize legally licensed IPs that have been signed; copyright holders can monitor, review, and conduct real-time transactions through the back end. The platform is planned to be officially launched publicly in the second half of this year.
It is reported that the platform has already signed dozens of top-tier IPs, including classic film and television works from Bigger Group, a company under Stephen Chow, such as "The King of Comedy," "Big Hero," and "Yangtze River 7," as well as several leading entertainment agencies.
In terms of business model, the platform offers two types of licensing: "template creation" for consumer-level entertainment secondary creation, and "free creation" for brand customization on the B-side. According to reports, some B-side project pricing has reached the level of millions.
The launch of this platform marks a shift in Seedance's copyright strategy from the early "limiting generation and protecting copyright" to "protected development." By setting detailed permission levels and revenue-sharing mechanisms, the platform aims to solve the pain points of traditional authorization processes being cumbersome and time-consuming, allowing copyright holders to gain incremental revenue in the AI era.
Previously, the Motion Picture Association in the United States had reached a consensus with ByteDance on IP protection, commending its technological advancements in copyright protection.
